The sheer joy of returning home after a busy and fractious day at work  to a gloriously clean and shiny home cannot be overestimated.   I currently do not have a regular cleaner since my last went on maternity leave and decided to remain so, thus depriving lesser mortals of her services as a domestic goddess!  I have never been hooked by a cleaning habit – don’t get me wrong, I’m not too much of a slob but since the beginning of the original lockdown earlier this year, I became bitten by an unusually fierce need to strip out the kitchen and get it back to a state of newness unseen since the decorator left 5 years ago . . .  At that time I still had my dear housekeeper – she wasn’t just a fantastic cleaner but also offered laundry services and almost any domestic task I cared to ask.   Professional cleaning and janitorial services are vital, even more so when we’re all anxious about hygiene matters!
