Doing the clean up after a party can be seriously tiresome. It’s not so bad if contained within one or two rooms. It’s the cleaning up outside and in the grounds that really get me down. I help out at a heritage property and they do have many functions throughout the year. Weddings are a notable speciality. It is amazing though the number of guests who treat the furniture and effects as if they belong in a tidy tip. We find all sorts of appaling things and I only hope they don’t behave like that in their own homes. We have a dedicated janitorial team to do the main clean up these days. It needs specialist cleaning skils to get marks off paintwork and furniture. And the carpets – I’m amazed how a professional utfit can get their machines and somehow erase the mud and food squashed in to the carpets and furnishings. They also have a really good way of cleaning the washrooms and leaving them not only spotless and shiny, but smelling so much nicer. Everything looks like brand new every time they leave the premises.
