The first few months of the year can be a very odd time socially.  The children piling back to schoolafter the christmas and new year break brings a fresh new feeling.  Be it at the office or at home, there is something jolly inspiring about a new spring time.  I help out at a country house as a steward.  It is really lovely to see the under stairs experience.  They have reinstated the Butler’s Pantry – it has all the instructions up on how to serve breakfast to the lady guests and how to clean the silver properly.  Not taking up more than one silver implement will ensure no scratching!  The laundry at the end of the experience is an eye opener.  The boiler had to be filled with hundreds of gallons of water from the pump and then the fire lit beneath.  The scrubbing up of the work areas was a greatly highlighted task too.
